]]>Great Connection changes the name of the service Mobile Baby® to Curie Cloud®.http://www.greatconnection.se/blog/2012/3/27/great-connection-changes-the-name-of-the-service-mobile-baby-2.htmlAsa Nordgren2012-03-27T05:16:27Z2012-03-27T05:16:27ZThese changes will take effect on Thursday March 28, 2012.

 The reason is that our services have come to be used for other study types and imaging modalities than baby images (sonograms). Some of our customers are using our PACS solution and we are also looking into routing DICOM studies from PACS to PACS. Our technology is also currently being tested for MRI and CT studies.

 The focus has also shifted from mainly being a service for patients, or parents, to a service where doctors access patient studies or communicate with other doctors. In summary, the new applications of our service are not covered by the name Mobile Baby.

 However, the name Mobile Baby is very appreciated by the end-users. OB clinicians have also expressed their liking and so have the cellular carriers that we work with.  The service has also been awarded with two very prestigious prices. So we are not dropping the name completely. The application of sending ultrasound images to expecting parents will still be called Mobile Baby® and messages and landing pages for the parents will still be branded as before. Our customers are free to still use that name if it is to their liking.

 

About the new name

The new name Curie Cloud® is inspired by the double Nobel Price winner Marie Curie. 

Marie Curie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Curie was a pioneer a true game changer. She was dedicated scientist that promoted the use of new technology and is considered to be the most inspirational woman in science.

 We also want the name to make your mind wonder over to currier; our technology is your currier of DICOM images.  Like a next generation FedEx and fax. 

We where also inspired by curare (latin) and cure for obvious reasons.

We hope you like our new name. We think it is great.
